Pond Hockey Festival to be held February 1-3

The Second Annual New England Pond Hockey Festival will be held in spectacular Rangeley Maine. During a three day tournament sixteen teams with six players each, (four skaters at a time), will compete in an event to celebrate a time honored New England tradition. The festival is fund-raiser, with surplus proceeds earmarked for Rangeley charities. Six rinks will be created on beautiful Haley Pond in downtown Rangeley with a hospitality. A Friday night welcoming reception and Saturday night Happy Hour will be included in the registration fee. Each team will be guaranteed a minimum of three games in the round robin format. A playoff will be held to determine the tournament champion on Sunday morning along with a consolation round.

- Team Entry Fee - $600 per team

- 16 teams participating in “4 on 4” hockey (no goaltenders).

- 6 rinks with teams playing simultaneously

- Each team will play at least 3 games on Saturday Consolation and Championship rounds on Sunday morning.

- The rink measures approximately 150’ x 75’
(75% of regulation size)

- All games are 40 minutes in length with two 20 minute halves

TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE

Friday, February 1st, 2008
6:00 – 9:00 PM Welcoming Reception and Player Registration at the Rangeley Inn
9:00 – 10:00 PM Captains Meeting

Saturday, February 2nd, 2008
7:00 – 9:00 AM Continental Breakfast at Rangeley Inn
9:00 AM – 4:00 PM Round Robin play at the Festival site.
Each team will play at least 3 games.
3:30 – 6:30 PM Post play Happy Hour at Rangeley Inn
Dinner on your own, evening concert at Sarge’s Pub
with Tom Ball Band

Sunday, February 3rd 2007
9:00 AM –  Consolation Round – Semi Finals
10:00 AM – Championship Round Semi Finals
11:00 PM – Finals and awards ceremony

REGISTRATION
Registration will be by teams only. Players from the 2007 tournament will have priority for submitting teams to this year’s event. To secure this year’s spot, a team registration form and fee of $600 must received by December 15th, 2007.

IMPORTANT – To participate in the NEPHF, all skaters must register with USA Hockey (our insurer) and submit copies of their confirmation page or membership cards. To register, go to www.USAHockey.com. No player can participate in the NEPHF without the submission of membership documentation from USA Hockey.

New participants who wish to form a team should send a $600 team fee and the required registration documentation in by December 15th, 2007. Remaining teams will be filled from this pool after that date. Any teams not selected will have their NEPHF registration fees returned by January 15, 2008.

Players unaffiliated with a team may sign up for a pool of unaffiliated skaters who may be chosen to fill vacancies. No fee is required at this time.
