Rangeley Snowmobile Trails Report 2/22/2008

TRAIL CONDITIONS: All trails are open and we are on our regular grooming schedule (every trail at every other day and on weekends the busy trails are groomed daily). This should continue to be a fantastic end to school vacation week and a great weekend for riding. Our trails are smooth and offer great riding.  Get out early for the best conditions. Trails are in VERY GOOD condition. All the lakes are being ridden. Please be careful on the trails. This is a busy snowmobile week. Please make it a safe one. Thanks for riding in Rangeley.

SNOW REPORT: NEW SNOW SINCE LAST REPORT: 0". We have had 41 inches of snow since February 1st.!

SNOW DEPTH IN OQUOSSOC: 28 INCHES

The trail to the summit of East Kennebago Mountain is now open.  Look for signs along ITS 89 about a mile after you cross Route 16 (heading toward Eustis) in Langtown.

SPECIAL NOTES:

LAKE RIDING IS NEVER SAFE! IF YOU ARE NOT EXPERIENCED AND COMFORTABLE WITH RIDING ON LAKES. Don’t do it!

WATCH OUT FOR LOGGING AND A TRAIL REROUTE ON THE CEDAR SWAMP TRAIL WHERE IT CROSSES BUD RUSSELL ROAD

THERE IS A MAJOR REROUTE OF ITS 89 THIS YEAR; ALL TRAILS NEAR KENNEBAGO LAKE ARE PLOWED AND CLOSED

SNOW DEPTHS OFF-TRAIL ARE VERY DEEP, AS MUCH AS FOUR FEET IN HIGHER LOCATIONS.  USE CAUTION WHEN PULLING OFF A GROOMED TRAIL. IT IS EASY TO GET BURIED IN SOFT SNOW. CURRENTLY OFF- TRAIL RIDING IN THE BACK COUNTRY IS FOR EXPERIENCED RIDERS USING SNOWMOBILES DESIGNED FOR OFF-TRAIL RIDING. FOR MORE DETAIL CHECK OUR WEB SITE AT www.rangeleysnowmobile.com
